Charleston Winter

Way up north, where the day-stars dance
And the frost hangs crisp in the air
The snow grows deep and the warm things sleep
Underground, under ice cold and fair

In between, cities chug and steam
Under blankets of sleet and snow
Cold cars move through the salt-sown streets
People walk bundled to and fro

Here down south, where the sun shines bright
Neither ice nor snow's taken hold
The streets are clean and the grass is green
But with all that, it's still too cold

  1. I want to tell you about a plot of land 15 minutes hike away from the road that Carol's dad farmed until 1959 when he came to Canada. Worthy of 3 months of your time in the months you dream "too cold" in the Carolinas. If you use Google Earth, I'm sending you the coordinates.
